OKAN is proud to partner with the City of OKC’s Strong Neighborhoods Initiative (SNI) and Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS) in order to provide hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) learning for students at Eugene Field Elementary and F.D. Moon Elementary! F.D. Moon Academy just finished its second summer of STEAM, and will continue the academy throughout the school year. Eugene Field hosted its first summer STEAM academy in 2015, and will be continuing their academy throughout the school year. Students split their time between a grade level teacher and one of our High Quality Program Providers. Our Program Providers focus on different subjects, including art, music, hands-on science, and engineering. Not only is STEAM enrichment fun, it is a way to engage students in learning!
In 2014, OKAN collaborated with the City of Oklahoma City’s Strong Neighborhoods Initiative, Oklahoma City Public Schools, and community stakeholders to plan and implement a Summer S.T.E.A.M. Academy for the students of F.D. Moon Elementary. The program lasted for 16 days during the summer, and included multiple high quality program providers and teachers from Moon. OKAN is excited to be continuing the S.T.E.A.M. Academy in the summer of 2015, thanks to the City of Oklahoma City and partners.
